Dipicolinic Acid is an organic compound with the formula C7H5NO4. It is a colorless solid powder and soluble in water and organic solvents. Pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid is an important pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate with a wide range of uses. It exists in bacterial spores in nature, but the content is small and difficult to extract, which cannot meet industrial needs. The earliest report on artificial synthesis was in 1935, when Professor ALVIN.W.Singer and Professor S.M.MCELVAIN of the University of Wisconsin used potassium permanganate to oxidize 2,6-dimethylpyridine in water as the solvent, with a yield of 64%. UniVOOK produce DPA by oxidizing 2,6-lutidine with innovative production process, with the yield at 98%. Through our unique purification process, we ultimately provide our customers with products of 99.0-99.5% purity.


Application: Dipicolinic Acid


As Intermediates:

Dipicolinic Acid is used as intermediates for the synthesis of pyridine products, including: 2, 6-diacetylpyridine, 2, 6-diamino-4-chloropyridine, (6-methoxyformylamino-4-chloropyridine – 2-yl) methyl carbamate, 6-aminomethyl pyridine-2-carboxylic acid, 4-chloropyridine -2, 6-dicarbohydrazide, 4-chloropyridine -2, Methyl 6-dicarboxylate, 6-aminoethyl pyridine-2-carbohydrazide, dimethyl pyridine-2.6-dicarboxylate, 6-chloromethyl pyridine-3-ethyl formate, 6-hydroxymethyl pyridine-2-ethyl formate, 4-chlorpyridine-2, 6-dicarboxylate, 2, 6-pyridine-magnesium diformyl chloride, n-methyl-pyridine-2, 6-dimethyl dicarboxylate, etc;



Dipicolinic Acid are also widely used in the pharmaceutical field as pharmaceutical intermediates or as part of pharmaceutical formulations;


As Inhibitor

DPA is used as a competitive inhibitor of glucose dehydrogenase and an enzyme catalytic inhibitor;


Feed Industry:

Feed grade Dipicolinic Acid is used in additive ingredients in feed industry;
